The Drôme Provençale
A unique blend of nature, adventure, and joie de vivre.
When you arrive in Drôme Provençale, you immediately feel the Provençal atmosphere, smell the lavender, taste the olives, drink a good glass of wine, and your holiday has begun. Located between the Alps and Provence, the region offers the best of both worlds: beautiful warm days and cool nights, mountains for hiking, cycling or mountain biking, and the conviviality of the villages and local markets.
If you enjoy good food, the Drôme has the highest organic production in all of France!
With Mont Ventoux nearby, the most beautiful via ferrata in Europe and natural climbing rocks, there is also plenty for sports enthusiasts to enjoy in the Parc Régional des Baronnies national park.

– Nature, walking & cycling –
From the campsite, you can walk straight into the mountains…
… and there are also endless opportunities for walking and cycling in the surrounding area. The Grand Randonnée GR91 and the GRP Tour des Baronnies Provençales both run right past the campsite. And of course, the 1,909-metre Mont Ventoux is a must for every cycling enthusiast! A special outing is a trip to Rémuzat, where you can see vultures on top of the Rocher du Caire. The view is amazing and the vultures sometimes fly past at eye level.
At reception, we have a number of walking routes that you can take directly from the campsite. We are happy to give you tips on beautiful walks and cycle rides in the area.
If you would like to plan your walk or cycle ride in advance, take a look at these websites.

If you’re a little less adventurous, there’s also a course for the whole family. From Buis les Baronnies, you can also enjoy fantastic climbing in the Gorges d’Ubrieux, paragliding and mountain biking! And let’s not forget Mont Ventoux, perhaps the most legendary mountain to climb by bike.

– Culture –
The Drôme Provençale is a region rich in history and culture.
There is also plenty to see and do in terms of culture. In Nyons, you will find the Pont Roman, a 43-metre-long Roman bridge, and the Tour Randonne, which can be seen from afar. The Scourtinerie is a mat weaving mill, unique in France, where beautiful colourful mats have been made since 1882. The Château de Grignan is the largest Renaissance castle in south-eastern France and definitely worth a visit.
The discovery of ancient Vaison-la-Romaine immerses you in the Middle Ages. Cobbled streets, the Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth church and the 11th-12th century monastery. At the very top of the hill stands the castle of the Counts of Toulouse.
Smaller villages such as Brantes & Montbrun les Bains are also well worth a visit. And if you are looking for culture within walking distance of the campsite, you can take a beautiful walk to the Château d’Aulan, which is entirely decorated with historical details, including those of Marquis d’Aulan, who was a squire under Napoleon III.

– Food & Drink –
The Drôme is definitely the destination for you if you love good food, local produce and fine wine.
Enjoy the olives from Nyons, which were the first olives to receive an AOP designation, the delicious Rhône wines, the tastiest goat’s cheese, the locally brewed beers, the lavender honey, the juiciest apricots and the most fragrant thyme, all equally flavourful.
And the producers are proud of their products and love to tell you all about them. If you don’t feel like cooking, there are plenty of great restaurants in the Drôme, from ‘bistrot de Pays’ to top restaurants!
The Drôme is a fantastic wine region with three grand crus (Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Vinsobres) and four AOCs (Côtes du Rhône, Die, Châtillon-en-Dios and Grignan-les-Adhémar). In the surrounding area, you can visit numerous wine cellars (many of which are organic) where you can taste the wines.
An overview of restaurants and wine cellars can be found on these websites.
